NEW CRIS DE NIRO & UPDATE!

Well, it took three years, but finally NEW CRIS DE NIRO!! NEW DETROIT (Cris De Niro, Book 6) was actually a story I conceived way back in late 2014 then Hollywood came knocking and - well - I spent the last three years writing screenplays and treatments for some AWESOME movie and TV projects with my writing/producing partner, mentor, and amigo-for-life Mike Greenburg!

Beginning in August 2014, Mike and I have co-written the following projects for the big screen and TV:

• CRIS DE NIRO: The Watchman of Ephraim - The first screenplay in the CDN franchise, based on Book One of the Amazon-Bestselling Cris De Niro counter-terrorism novel series.
• CRIS DE NIRO: Signs of War - Treatment for second installment in the CDN franchise, based on Cris De Niro, Book Two.
• GRIZZLY ADAMS: The Gold Rush Years - Our fantastic reboot of the iconic NBC hit TV series, The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams, written with Mike Greenburg and Tod Swindell.
  
• APERTURE: The Dorothea Lange Story - Biopic focusing on the historic photographic works of the legendary photojournalist, Dorothea Lange, accredited with creating the modern documentary.
  
• BLACK ICE - the epic and virtually unknown tale of the fabled champions of the Colored Hockey League (CHL).
  

Between August 2014 and now, I also worked on two biographies, neither of which will be published at this time (due to other-than-writing aspects that are out of my control). Suffice to say, I will NOT be attempting any more biographies in the near future. I also wrote a novella outside the CRIS DE NIRO universe. JOSHUA'S COUNTRY tells the story of what happens when ISIS messes with the family of an old cowboy! <-- Now, that is MY kind of story! JOSHUA'S COUNTRY is due out before the year is out, as is WHITE WIDOW (ARCHANGEL, Mission Log #3), the sequel to NEW DETROIT (Cris De Niro, Book 6).

If there is one morale that I learned since 2014, its NEVER to stop writing novels! There is more than one reason ... For one, writing is like anything else, you get rusty if you don't maintain it, and writing screenplays and treatments, while fun, is very different from writing novels. Another reason is writing is the BEST MEDICINE for my tortured soul! Like all artists, I feel a need to express myself. For me, that means telling stories.

The movie and TV projects are very exciting and hold enormous potential for my career. Success on screen will undoubtedly positively effect my book sales. Yet, the process to make it to screen can be extremely frustrating ... that is, the aspects of the process that are completely out of my control (read: waiting for Hollywood peeps to make up their minds). Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't change my decision to go after the big and small screens, but from now on, I prefer to focus on what I can control - telling my stories, in the form of publishing books.
